I'll slide a livey on a Tor 50,I've slide a small blacktail and caught a big diamond ray and caught a 22kg grey on a whole shad slide 30cm shad all on my Tor 50 and /8+1. The one thing I hate about sliding live bait is the bait swimming and getting tangled up in your mainline to prevent this I shake my slide just with short shark shakes and not long shakes so the line stays under some tension and the fish never gets any slack line. I dunno if anybody else uses this method but it has worked for me.
