I dont mind what fish to catch aslong as its a fish not just a cold. All your feedback will be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance.

Vaalkop was closed for a long time, wasn't it? Maybe that's why there is not a lot of info on it. There was a few articles in the Bank Angler a while back. Will have a look and see if I can assist.

Most i can tell you is that it is very crowded there...i have been twice and both times it was packed....
there is a lot of water grass!!! so getting fish out is a bit of a mission...
no boats allowed....
as for winter fishing, i can't tell you as i haven't fished there in winter....yet
there are decent ablutions...
there are also hippos and crocks....so be careful in the water...
the fishing there was good...good carp, kurper

hope this helps some....

Would you know anything about klipvoor dam witch is the better option to go to? Plz exuse my spelling its just as bad as my fishing.

If you want to fish a north west dam with surety that you will catch then target Rietspruitdam (Ventersdorp), Olifantsnek (Rustenburg).

Another good venue will be klipdriftdam close to Potch.

Thanks for that but i dont want to drive to far just for the day, maybe in the summer i will give it a try for a weekend. Is Buffelspoort dam any good this time of year would you know perhaps?

Buffels can be a difficult dam to fish...but not impossible...there are big carp and decent bass there....ablutions are good and safety is pretty good...it is one of the cheaper venues around...about R25 for angler and vehicle...

in winter it is very difficult to fish...there are a lot of post on buffels...check them out....

Vaalkop in the winter can be a bit tricky. You need to go deep but be aware there are still dead trees in deep and you will be broken off every time. As for bait the one that always works for me is almond dough on the hook and allrounder and blertsie on the bol. There is also allot of barbel the best bait is one of the little kurpers at night between 1 and 4 in the morning. Hope this helps

like mentioned in previous post buffels is a great venue for specimen carp angling and bass fishing.

One of sealine members (piet snot) was there last weekend and caught nothing. NO BITE at all.

The dam is really good for a 4-5 day session and not a 1 day dam.

Why don't you try roodekoppies?

Roodekoppies is good, i have been there a couple of times by Dennekruin in December i went there for a week and had to leave as people were attacked twice in the week that we were there camping not to far from them so i will give dennekruin a miss but the resort where you go across the bridge is safe i think its called noord transvaal hengelklug gronde or something in that line, i have had some luck there with carp a couple of times.
