Hi, just bought a 15ft Calibre Cabin Cruiser with 90HP Mariner. Any info on these boats would be appreciated eg. Where and who has build them, build quality -----.
Also where and who is recommended in JHB (West) for equipment (Safety gear, fish finder, rod holders), servicing, foam and buoyancy certification?
Is it any good to use at the coast? (1 nm)

Hi, I don't know the places in Jozi, do a search on Sealine. However I would recommend that you rather update to a 5nm certification, you will be rather limited with 1nm.

Looks a lot like a Baronet/Flamingo. Compare to my Flamingo below. Does the boat have a wet deck, i.e. some kind of a system to allow water to run out if boat takes on water. Look for outlets in the transom.

You cant go to sea in a Calibre,no wet deck,first wave you hit will split the hull like a banana

The Calbre was origanally built in Uitenhage. They built 2 models, the 15 foot Calibre and 17 foot Baronet. The build quality depended on the year of manufacture. In the Eastern Cape some of these boats were used in the sea by the LTB guys for their Bay League competitions. These competitions were held in protected waters just outside the PE harbour. Rather stay on the river/dam.

Mmm maybe “Banana Split” could be a good name for the boat

Hi Justin, No I did not, I am a partner in small tackle and outdoor shop (not baoting though)would probably source from our suppliers. Actualy considerd making my own. Any ideas would be welcome. What I do need is a "ski bar" any references to source or have made up would also be welcomed.

What type of rod holders do you want?

I would highly recommend the Scotty's. However, they are very expensive but there is another option... Check out the Cabelas rod holders. They are the same re-branded rod holders, just half the price. I have been using them on my boats for years! They are on sale at $20. add about 25% for shipping.

Hi, sorry to bother you but do you perhaps know who built these boats and do they still exist..??
I am actually looking for plans as I want to do a full re-built on my 17ft Baronet

@ Changes: The Baronet is no longer being built by the original manufacturer that was located in Uitenhage. I am not sure what happened to the moulds. What changes did you have in mind?

Thanks for the info.. I don't want to change anything, I just want to do some minor refurbishments and the reason I am looking for plans or guidance is because I know jack shit about boats. I only bought this baby 3 weeks ago and its my first..
