Hi I saw a guy doing kite fishing with lures he does this with soft plastics and diving baits has anyone done this and is it effective?

its my intention to fly a large Rapalla or Yo Zuri lure to the outside and reel it back too the beach. I figure if something picks it up; will either hook himself and also destroy the rapalla in the process.

Watch this space.....

Sounds interesting Michael, whereabouts did you see this guy ?

@PSY, depending on terrain a floating lure of similar dimensions than your pic may be a better option.

kitefisher....do you figure not to use this diving lure? i am still to test it in the pool to see its diving depth!Probably better to utilise a floater instead?

Psy ,the boat anglers will know the depths of the metal-lip lures. It all depends on the depth of the water that you are fishing in.(underwater obstructions could be costly).

I have considered it in the past, but never really got round to it,you will be doing groundbreaking work, lol

Michael,I can honestly not think of any reason why soft plastics would not work if you could take it out to behind backline where a lot of ski-boats hover for gamefish.Perhaps if you see him again you should "interview" him and give us a bit of feedback,it may just lead to bigger things.

Sardinerun would be an ideal time for this ,mainly because of off-shores blowing every evening untill about 09h00-10h00 am the following day,and also because there are more gamefish around(sometimes).

Will you try and find out?,maybe get a phone number.

:fbashSilly me,I didn't pay attention to your location:fbash

Psy,Michael mentioned that the guy was using soft plastics,I take it to be those "Makhulu" dropshots/jigheads with the huge Berkley or other paddletails etc,Like the guys from ESA offshore use for targetting Kingies and Amberjacks..It could also be the off the shelf type that for example Williamson lures manufacture, but I doubt as I think they are designed more for Marlin and Sailfish etc.(see picture).I am purely speculating here, off course.

How much does that lure cost?that guy used the same type of lures and large spoons
Hey Mike, looks like R149 bucks, suppose not too shabby if compared to the cost of lipped lurse in the magnum size.Comes wit a length of 200-300lbs Trace Mono included.Would love to know what this guy has hooked on these lures thus far.

1XBicycle spoke, with long thin piece of carwash Chamois dipped in Anchovy oil, insert aforementioned Chamois into Fishy, remove spoke.(Or any other means of perhaps aiding the  built-in action and colours.)

1X SUSTAINED RELEASED ANCHOVY CHUM MONSTER, ::S
