Hi. I am organising a FW fishing comp for my farm workers. At our briefing meeting they told me that you need a licence to fish on the breede river. (about R45.00) I am situated on the breede between Robertson and Bonnievale.

I have never been asked for a licence in all my time fishing on the river and it seems only coloured people are asked for them.

So my questions:
- Do you need a license?
- Why? The river has only exotics in it anyway
- Why are only farm workers asked for it? (Is this a form of harrasment?)
- Who monoters/patrolls the river?
- If it is Cape Nature or other gov. dept, why are they not doing anything about the untreated sewerage coming into the system? (Worcestor and Montague sewerage treatment plants come to mind) Oh yeah, don't forget about bulldozing the river clean of any islands or other natural obstructions. Last "Oh Yeah", why are they not nailing the guy who allowed the barbel into the river system?

Any help/info appreciated!
