Thanks Joker but at R400 plus shipping, a bid of risky to buy the 4B . They are very old models and parts like spool shaft and drag plate no longer available.

If reel was closer or if one could strip and check the parts . Then it may be ok to buy .

I hear you about the age of the reels. If I'm there again, I'll see if they will drop the price for both. Perhaps they'll drop the price.

I need an drag plate for a friends 4B ! He have caught many big fish at Vidal with live bait and don't want to part with it as yet . He want me to fix his reel .

If I can get a reel that the drag plate is in better shape than his, I can fix his reel . The newer 2020 use different parts and don't work on the old 4B model .

Okey I got the 4b now just to find it for you as I have no use for it so you can have it.

I can`t find the bladdy thing now MURPHY

I have a 4B.
You can also try Maxwell Engineering in Cape Town, as they used to manufacture the Policansky.

FRITZABU, did you have any luck with your search? I also need a Drag/Brake plate for a Monitor 4B. I am trying to restore a hand me down reel that my father bought over to Aus from SA. Here in Aus Policansky are as scarce as hens teeth. If you found a source or if anyone else over there can help me out I sure would appreciate it.

Hi yes I have find a couple already but no luck with just new brake plates or other parts that normally need replacement.

I do know they don't have spares for the older Monitor series 2B & 4 B , but they still do the Monarch series 2006, 2010, 2018 and the 2020 .

I will keep you in mind if I by luck run into some more reels in usable condition.

The problem is that the first part to start giving problems on the 4B & 2B is the drag plate and main shaft. Many of the other parts are interchangeable with parts from the Monarch series , but not the drag system.
