hi guys what is the max weight sinker the purglass

the Purglas 400/2 can cast anything between 4 to 7oz sinker.Remember if you are throwing a BIG bait consider using a lighter sinker....

Otherwise a "possible" breakage.....

i was always under the impression thet the "/" figure is doubled to indicate casting weight making the /2 a 4oz rod ? Not so?
a /4 is rated 8oz max etc

I casted a few 7oz sinkers with mine, but feel the most comfortable with a 5oz. Also seem to cast further with a 5 than with a 7.

Spot on,same here!5oz hits that sweet spot with the 400/2.

Anything above 5oz doesn't get me same results when casting.

I have the 400/2 as well, and cast with 6oz and some times with big baiits and no problem at all, very nice rod for surf and rock fishing

Guys

I have been using purglas for many many years!!

I have a 400/2  the cast weights are 4 to 6 ounce, 5 ounce with bait being best suited for the rod, 6 ounce with small baits are good, dont over load the rod then the next topic will be " 400/2 purglas broke, wont buy one again"

lol... have to agree! I use a 400/1 with a 3 to 4oz sinker max, depending on bait size I'm quite sure the 400/2 would be suited to a 5oz, depending on how far you want to cast and your casting style one can vary the sinker weight quite dramatically, just don't try winding it! I have cast 2oz and 5oz with my 400/1, not very far I might add.

Hi Seelan

Takes my advice please MAX weaight on the new stroke 2  is 5-6 the old ones 7 anything more will cause breakage i have had many of them over the years form old to new.

Purglas wil eb now releasing an HMG in 36 ton after many years of T24 production.

If i must really wind an 8 oz i will deff give you 2 or 3 parts in a stroke 2 that was originally a 1 pc

buy a stroke 3 its more versatile from 5 to about 7 oz if you want to get max performance in terms of bain and sinker

The 400 series takes a lighter loding than the 350 series

400/2 is a 3-6oz rod with 5oz being the optimum. You can lob cast an 8oz but not cast an 8oz.

400/3 is probably the better all round rod as old salt has mentioned but also up to 7oz

Want to go with 8oz and bait and be able to nail it then a 350/5 or 400/6

I'm busy testing a 48T 400/4 that has a single layer of T24 in it. The Rod's probably the equivalent of an old /8 with the same sort of elasticity in the tip.

I's originally gunning for a /2 as the ultimate single-piece edible rod , but for our local conditions , My needs of casting a 5 oz ,as to the  Reality that currents Prevent me from not always being able to do this , have now led Me to believe the /3   6.5 , 7 0z was always waiting for me, in the wings ... and Once I'd gone down the old road-man whatta rush .

a lot of a rods capability is also down to the person using the rod and how they cast. Ive done a lot of tournament casting with purglas rods and weights ranging from 18gramms up to 300gramms and had some good results from them for myself I found the two piece 4004/6 or 4004plus two extra wraps one of the most versatile rods that I have cast with you will most probably call it the 4006/
