Hi Guys

This might be a stupid question but how do you present your bait on your first cast at a new venue, for example do you put a floatie with a dough backing on the top hook and then the bottom hook without a floatie.

Hope this makes sense.

Rod1 : SWD top hook, bottom hook SWD and Almond or Honey float. Cast about 60m. (FX and Almond or Almond and Banjo on bomb)

Rod2 : Mealie top hook and bottom hook a Slangwurm and plain float. (TAC or FX and Ebony on bomb) Cast about 100m.

From there I see what bait the fish are after and I start with my gameplan for the day. Sometimes I start with nothing on the bombs and as they day goes on I start using different flavours. ;)

My first cast.

1st rod: Normal rietvlei strop with top hook floatie and deeg and on the bottom hook the same. voer bol as big as possible with a bit of looti nothing no dips on the hooks and 10 out of 10 times this rod will get the biggest fish for the day.

2st rod: Short rietvlei floatie and deeg on both hooks dipped in Bannana voer bol also big as possible with looti.

I always start both rods on the same distance for the simple reason to get the fish tempo up faster In summer I start on 60m in a dam and in winter I will start on 100m as the day progress and if the tempo starts slowing down I will go for more distance on the one rod just to see what is in the deeper water. but in the summer months I use big voer bol as big as I can cast to get them coming from al over.

Thanks for the replies guys it is interesting to see the different aproaches used. The next question is when you put dip on your bol do you only put a small stripe on or how do you do it.

I usaully only put a stripe from top to bottom of the bol and if I use to dips on the ball I put a stripe on opposite sides of the ball never more than that.

Your input on this will be appreciated

Windless day:

Small 20cent spot. Its normally hotter then. I normally use fruity stuff like BG, 2007, banana etc

Some wind:

R5 spot on the bol. Normally use Perdeby, Vicks/Looti etc

Hectic windy:

Stripes from top of bol, normally with TCP, Devilsfork etc.

Im not really fussed if one dip goes over the other, but I do try and keep them apart.

always do research before fishing a new venue, It can make a major difference

remember what ever you put in you cant get out and that can improve or affect   the days  fishing .

when i fish a new venue i always start with Fx , banjo , pienapple , peach  & strawberry to name a few .

Just my 5c
