sorry Marc but the Ranfurly in March is too early for anything but Kingies, Hapuka and Bass.  Stripies, Blues and 'Fin start around Dec/Jan.

Hi Tkei - thanks for the info - ja, Kenya is still a a place definitely on the radar - both for broadbill and the run of stripies they have there. Did you pick up your swords on the North Kenya Bank (trolling lumo lures, lightsticks..?) - i gather thats the best place..? Can you recommend any particular operator..? Sorry for all the questions..!

ChrisW - thanks for that heads up - as someone who knows that part of the world a great deal, when/where would you say is the best place in NZ for swords and big stripies..?

Great report I'm keen to get out there at some stage apparently the jigging is phenomenal. Most of the guys I have spoken to say live bunnies are the way to go for the big GT's on the bottom though as the wee buggers tend to get to the jigs first. Marlin on spinning gear must have been a laugh we get sailies fairly regularly but marlin is a whole other league!

Thanks bud! Yeah it's been 8 months in the making, and D-Day is now finally around the corner, so the hunt will soon be on for some geets
