Plain ellow float with dough on top.
Pink sweets float with dough on the bottom.
All back into SA powder.

I did try without the floats, just clean dough. However the bites completely dried up then. I should have mentioned that I have used soft floats. As seen on the pic the hooks was also proud.

With the big barbel at R50, what do you think is the best trace and bait to use? Really want to get into one of those buggers

Ay Micks, I hope all is well?

My first choice would be a fish head. HOWEVER, because the dam is strictly catch and release you can skip that option as a whole.

Personally, best under the circumstances for me would either chicken hearts, a dove or something along that line, or day old chicks. Also, don't rule out crabs as they would be a natural food source to these barbel in the dam.

Trace wise I'd go for a sliding trace, but would match the hooksize to the bait obviously. I will of course show you how to construct the trace and how to present the bait once we get to do that looooooooooooong awaited session!

Yes there are toilets and usually they are nice and clean.
Just make sure you get there early(06:00) else you might have a problem getting a space.

Hi guys,

Seeing as the ever ongoing exam of June 2016 have been one horrendously long exam filled with suicidal papers I've decided to get out a bit, while studying, so I ended up doing a 4 hour session, while studying.

So, as per usual, I ended up sitting at the third last lapa, fishing at 67 and roughly 115. Ended up landing 7 fish, all nice carp between 1 and 1,5kg. I was however privileged to land a BUS grasscarp whilst packing up. I've heard that there are some in there, but never saw or caught one though.

Cant believe that there are big fish in R50 and have never caught a Grassy - I have fished there plenty and normally catch 2 - 3.5 kg class carp and that's it.

Hay there Big Truck,

Don't worry, I was just as shocked and surprised when I saw that fish surface! I know there's some bus barbel in there and real real good carp as well, and even though I've heard of grassies (and even some yellows) there I've never caught one, and I practically live there!

I'd like to know if anyone has any info on how long they have been in the system, how many is in there, sizes etc because if there are more that one and they have been in the system for some time then they certainly are not breeding, because if they had the dam would've been filled with small grassies by now?

i was at koppies dam this past weekend. caught about 5 biggest at 3 kg

what a waste i must say sitting over 3-4 hours with just an odd run and also didnt fish at all sunday due to the messed up weather, hopefully ill have a better chance here on sunday
