HI GUYS,

PLANNING ON GOING TO VAAL DE SIOLEH FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS.
MOSTLY FOR THE WIFE AND KIDS, BUT I TOO AM AN AVID CARP ANGLER.

JUST WANTED TO GET AN IDEA HOW DEEP THE WATERS ARE?
HOW WILL PAPGOOI/BAIT FISHING PERFORM HERE?
ARE THERE ROCKY PATCHES/SILT/MUDDY CONDITION UNDER THE WATER?

AND LASTLY HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO DEMALICHITE IN TERMS OF FISHING AS WELL AS FACILIITIES/FISHING/ACCOMODATION & SAFETY etc. . . .

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Just got back from a place a bit further down from there the past weekend.

Caught plenty carp, some yellows and a muddy using hair rigs loaded with 3 soft mielie pips and a floatie on the hook. Also 2 barbel on bait.

I also put molasses in my mielie bom.

Where i was fishing the deeper water was on our side(north of the river). Shorter casts worked the best. About one third across.

Also caught some yellows in the rapids further down on light tackle and lost a few big ones.

I have a small fibreglass boat I use which makes it possible for me to check the river bottom and where the best spots are to cast my baits. As mentioned this was a little bit further down so you will need to check out where you will be going.

With the current flow there is no silt, just some rocks with mostly gravel on the bottom in that area. Some underwater snags and trees are always present.

Another thing to wach is the flow (cumics per sec). When we arrived on Friday it was about 40 when we left on Sunday it was 125! and the river was still rising.

Hope this helps some and tight lines.

How deep was the river there. (ft/m)

What was your biggest catch?

How close is your spot to Vaal De Soileh?

This was a quick write up I did on the outing, it is about 5 km down river from there. Deeper side was between 4-5 meters where we dropped baits.
