Hi guys!

Me and 3 friends are going to Rhenosterkop next Saterday(11 Sep 2011) for a day's fishing.

Seeing as it's spawning season I cant wait to wet my line!!I am a huge fan of topwater frogs and I hope my El grande sapo frogs will do the trick!Any other lure suggestions?Thoughts?Tips? It wil be my first time there.1 of the others have been there but in all respect I'm the more seriouse bass angler and my 1 bud also likes it though not so serious..The other two are still due to have their "bassing virginity" broken LOL!!

We are planning a trip there for 17 September...

I would also just LOVE to know where to go and what lures to use... :?:alien

Bu the time you guys are going there I think they would have already spawned and you will most likely get about 100 males (100g to 1.2kg). I would target the female in deeper water (12-15 feet). The grass makes it diffucult to use crank or other baist, but plastics probably works the best anyhow. Try watermelon zoom super flukes, they will definetly produce some good fish. There is fish all around the dam!!!!

The only way they will not have their "bassing virginity" broken at Rhenosterkop is if they dont cast a lure in the dam at all.

That is so true . I think currently there one only need to put a piece of a car tube on any hook and you will get bass ::S

If you camp on the Parks board area side, it should be fairly safe. On the location side (before you get the river) its not very safe .

So I went to Renosterkop for the first time on Saturday (10-09-2011) along with the other 50 odd boats.

What a great trip, by 8am I already had a 7.5Kg bag and my dad had limit too which included at least 2 1.8Kg+ bass. All the others we were pulling out were at least 1Kg and gave us a healthy fight.

We only stayed on the water until 14:00 but were very satisfied with a great days fishing.

This is my best for the day, a 2.64Kg mother.
Caught on a 6" Watermelon red flek Ring Worm in 24 foot of water.

Wow! Now I can't wait to get there this weekend!!

Where exactly do one launch there?

Coordinates for the launch area?

There are 2 launch sites that I know of, the 1 is close to the dam wall, it is very steep here with loose sand and stones if you do not use the concrete slipway. The other area is approx 200 meters away where it is a nice level section of the dam, this is obviously the better of the two but it can get busy there.

Was there yesterday and had a awesome morning. +- 30 fish all over a kilo.

For the slipways see image.
