Hi Guys, just a heads-up regarding the West Rand and more especially anglers who frequent Donaldson Dam. The Carte Blanche episode on 10 April investigates the area around Donaldson Dam for mine-wastage - compounds like Uranium, Radium, etc and their possible impact on the environment. Most interesting was the lady that lost a few family members to cancer - from colon to prostate and a few in between who lives in Bekkersdal - the township on the fringe of the dam. Uranium has not scientifically been classified a carcinogen, but that should not be a reason to rest on our laurels. Radium and a few other known carcinogens also exist in the area. Uranium may still make the list, but even if it does not, it is still a radioactive substance, dangerous to animals, such as humans and the environment.

I urge you to watch this clip, for your own safety and that of your loved ones, even if only to conscientise yourself about the situation:
