Hi guys

I've just been the weekend to Eagle Waters the weekend, however, very disappointed!!!!!
fishing was terrible, no one caught anything or even a bite? is there even any fish there? the water doesn't look too healthy and honestly I wouldn't go there ever.
I definitely want to go to Tago. has anyone been there recently? hows the fishing ive been there like 3 years back anf fishing was extremely awesome.

hey man

i been a few months ago some where after winter time when it wasn't to cold though,

the fishing was slow but there were some nice carp coming out during the night time and early morning,

around 2-4 kg if i remember correct - sorry cant say much else on dips and combos cause i was asleep most of the time and hardly fished

only thing the road is a bit of a mission (30km odd)

Hi,

I was there this past weekend, i caught a small carp at around 3 on sunday on a worm. The guy next to me had a few runs but lost 2 fish close to the shore.

We were sitting to the far right.

hi naamo, eagle waters is a good area to fish....i go every second weekend...with my catches ranging from 5-24 fish in a day session (6-6).

About 2 weeks back i was at the dam on thursday and friday and to my surprise only 1 fish came out of 4kg....lots of movement on the water with fish playing in the shallows, so not sure if fish were spawning.

But i received a call from a friend on sunday and almost everyone that was at the dam yesterday (13/10/2013) caught between 5-10 fish. with catches of 8-16kg coming out...plain float, tutti fruit float, bunspice float, pineapple mielies

Hi Woofles,

Thanks for the update, I actually booked next weekend (chalet) and seeing all this negative comments made me worry is the trip going to be worth my while...

Also noted the baits used :fishn

not sure which chalets you will be staying in but i stayed in in the camping area...16 sleeper within the green fenced of area. Fishing there is good especially at night.

I used small floats
swd and almond float - fx and almond dip and sa powder
swd and plain float - fx and yellow banjo + sa powder
swd and tutti fruity float - fx + tutti fruitty + sa powder
swd and bunspice float - fx + bunspice + sa powder

some guys next to me were using custod powder instead of sa powder.

casting distance about 80 - 120m

Thanks for all the info Woofles, appreciated!! I will be staying in the 4 sleeper chalets near the camp sites.

I must say being a "newbie" to carp angling this forum sure does help a lot.

Boet you will not believe the amount of info i got from this site..i knew nothing about catching carp until i found this site... But i also bought the bankangler dvds and i now know alot more. But a good thing with carp fishing is trial and error on the baits and dips. I normally fish with 3 or 4 rods and on 1 rod i test and try different combos.
i will be on the day visitors side this weekend and might stay overnight as well.

Cool, will make a point to get some of those DVD's, please don't catch all the fish this weekend, leave some for me lol. Will be looking forward to your report next week...

Hey Sha123, did you go to the dam this weekend....i there on saturday night - sunday morning....we caught 2 carp
4.5kg - on bunspice float red, neon orange mallow sweet revenge dip
and 8.5kg - on plain white float, swd diped in sa powder and fx and yellow banko dip

Hi Woofles,

Nice catches there, my trip is this coming weekend. Was this caught on hand cast or deep line???

hand casting on the day visitors section (40m - 120m). I feel it is safe, i've never had any issues. Day visitors section do not have security at night but security often patrol camping area.

If you are ever going to the day visitors section (overnight) just ask for Bheki (security) that will patrol and see how you guys are doing through out the night
