Hi guys, I'm going to 1ste river soon and want some advice on where and what. Good spots close by will also do.

I visited Eerste Rivier a few months back and cast a line or two with no success. Not even a bite. To tell the truth I got spanked by a huge wave on the rocks just to the left of the sandy beach... no fun, luckily I retrieved my bait box after it being adrift for about an hour, rolling back an forth in the waves.

eerstes is one of my favourite spots.
fishing can be difficultthere as it is sinker hungry, but we have speared many large cracker and belman around those rocks you got washed  off, in fact I got washed off there a few years ago aswell.
If the water is clear forget it. walk past those rocks over the dune to a small beach
then turn right and over a small gully and climb straight up the rock infront of that
and you can fish off that vantage point . there are monster shad and cracker there.

Or walk right of the main beach towards oubos , there are some gullys past the oubos boundary fence , and at low tide you can cross the gully and fish off the back.
dont worry about going into the oubos property just stick to the rocks and seaside, they dont own the ocean and there boundary fence is no longer a fence but a few poles in the rocks. this area will produce cracker, galjoen and belman.

For fun  you can try fishing ultralite in the gully system behind those rsandstone rocks to the left called dasgat, I have caught a 3 kg cracker on my ultra light penn pinpoint rod with 4 kg line only 4 meters from the edge with a tiny piece of red bait on a 1/0
hook. This gully holds some huge bronze bream when the water is nice and foamy .

Great, thanks a mill gallieman!!

I don't know the area that well as I was there only once (during April this year). I can see on Google Earth that Oubos is just to the north of Eerste River. You don't perhaps have a co-ordinate or two for the places you refer to, just approximate??

Gallieman, the sign says no entry there, are we allowed? Of course as you say,they dont own the beach!
Hope things come right soon and we get the rods in the bakkie and go for a kuier soon.
