Hi Guys, i realize that the forum is a bit quiet, thats normally coz everyone is busy, the fishing is slow or lack of interest.

Well, please don't be afraid to post your photos and reports or questions as they will always start a healthy discussion.

Fishing has been a bit slow on my side, the weather is not quite playing along with thunderstorms, low temps and a horrid easterly wind blowing the whole time.

I had the priviledge to go fish Roodekopjes dam with Droomvanger on Friday the 19th and it was a whole new learning curve for me.

My framework was rather confused with all the new and different methods i am used to.

I actually started doubting in my abilities as an angler, and even though i'm far from good i am definitely not that bad either...LOL

Just shows you how techiniques differ from area to area and how we can learn from each other. The fishing was a bit slow at times that day, the clouds also caused lowlight conditions making sight fishing quite difficult. The sun only started showing itself late afternoon. We saw plenty decent carp cruising in the shallows but they were barely ever feeding. Luckily we found a tree with some canary kurper on later and had a little bit of fun with them. then we moved to the other side of the dam where we saw some barbel action, the barbel were actually going crazy on the surface, turning everywhere. But unfortunatley for us there was very little interest in our lures. Uncle Bernard got 2 at this spot and i had a few hits but no commitments. We then moved to a spot by the dam wall where the barbel were very active but also failing to commit, i think Uncle B got one more here and i didnt get any. Only to hear that the owner (Rudolph) and Perinandos (Andre) were getting the barbel good at the spot we just left.. (*^)*&;)(**(&*&%^$...... but we decided to stay on our spot hoping that we would come right.... Well we eventually gave up and moved to a shallow island where we started dipping for barbel. I decided that my new AWA-SHIMA AQAULIS GANKEN 420 Carp Dipping rod needs some breaking in, i managed to hook a decent sized fish but my 14lb braid parted a few seconds into the fight. At that stage the barbel probably moved 30m from the boat in a splitsecond.... We'll after wiping the tears i re-tied a nother carp leadhead and got another fish to take it. After a nice fight i landed a nice little one of 4.2kgs. And given the tackle used i think all performed very well.

A big THANK YOU to Bernard Venter for taking me out and to Enigma for a great piece of equipment that will be sure to work very hard in the future.

So there i ended up catching my PB barbel this afternoon, couldn't get it in the net myself but managed to pull it onto the grass. just as i got closer and wanting to grab it the hook fell out and it knew it's way to the water quite well. I was still in a bit of a daze and when i realised what is happening i tried grabbing it by the tail but it simply slipped through my hands... My estimate is that it was over 7kgs (7 to 8 maybe) and i caught it on a popper.... Im still quite sad

Taungdam kook! Kon darem so paar mooies kry!

Nou maak jy my sommer lus! En nie vir klein babertjies nie. Glo dat as jy die erties los, en loodkoppe gebruik, jy by die kleinbaabertjies sal verby kom.

Hi DBW,

Enige tyd wat jy sukkel verander tegniek of metode of kunsaas.
