Ive dumped all heavey stuff and have gone back to lighter tackle. Sensation passion sticks 7 ft. Gt fenwick tiger rod. Or the sensation gheko are.all awsome but to short for casting unfortunatly. Bass reels or a penn sargus 4000. Both shap shap

Hi

How does the Ugly Stik compare to the Sensation Rod Wiska Catfish?

:f1shy

I've moved away from using any "local" branded tackle. Cannot pay the same amount of money or in some cases even more when I can get a better international product.

My 2c

The Ugly Stik range varies a lot, from ultra light to extra heavy.

I haven't fished with the Sensations but have an extensive collection of Uglystiks from Ultra Light to XH and caught everything from SM Yellows, Orange River and Bloemhof Cats, YF Tuna and Big eye Kingies on them. They have never let me down and always felt solid. Just give them a google and you will find page upon page of ugly stik devotees, you really cant go wrong with them if you want a good no nonsense rod for cats.

Edit, the 9ft XH is a great heavy rod for cats

I am with Antjar on that one... I have six ugly stiks and they are as tough and solid as they come. Also use my two 9ft XH for cats.
On top of that they are relatively cheap, not a fan of the local brands.. (personal opinion)

((goodp_

Thanks Guys. The Sensation Rod seems new on the market and i think that its going to gain popularity due to the availability. The Ugly Sticks are hard to come by. Where does one source an Ugly Stick 9XH?

Hi Fishy,
Speak to Abdullah at Anglers Bait & Tackle, Kempton Park (011) 394-1709. He will phone the agent directly and place the order for you. Within a week you will have your rods if they have stock in SA. Otherwise order from Amazon, but won't recommend with the current exchange rate....

WA only has the Casting Rods and Not spinning. Do you guys use spinning or casting rods?

Mine were the casting versions, that is why I had them changed.

This might be the spinning version

@ Hennie, what was the cost more or less for a new reel seat and guides?

Fuji reel seats were about R100 each from the UK. Fuji guides and labour was R500 for both rods via Enigma
