Hi Guys

I just heard from my mate that the Bay is now open to fish again, is this true???

I have also seen one or two boats floating around in the bay fishing...

Someone please clarify, as i dont want to waste my time trying to go out on my ski only to be turned back by the water rats... thanks all

Tony, you will require a fishing licence which costs R60.

You can purchase this permit directly from the NPA or from any post office.

Duran, i'm no expert on this topic, but reading the previous write ups about fishing in the harbour. It looks like you have to belong to a club and the club has to apply to the harbour master to allow a certain amount of boats to fish out in the harbour.

I have a fishing ski and every now and then take a chance and fish near the mangroves.

I have not been caught yet (touch wood)

correct you need to belong to a club and they can only allow a max of fifty boats a day on the water. you can fish on the sand banks from the yaught mall to charlie crofts or central sand bank. the use of and collection of cracker shrimp requires a special permit which if i remember correctly you can also get from the post office (i do stand to be corrected though)
