Hi Guys

I just acquired a copy of the DVD ' Screaming Reels in Henties Bay ( for now it is available from Western Accessories Fishing Tackle - refer Tight Lines Magazine ). The DVD is very informative. One can learn a lot in terms of terminal tackle, bait presentation and knots. Stephen ' Spyker ' Kruger does a fantastic job.

It is apparent from the DVD that the West Coast is habitat to a huge variety of fish - from huge white steenbras, Kob, galjoen. spotted gulley sharks to huge bronze whaler sharks.

I strongly recommend your guys in acquiring a copy. Another very informative DVD is Shore Angling in SA by Nigel Heath.

Personally, i have tried a few tips given by Nigel and this has improved my catches.

Regarding Western Accessories Fishing Tackle, what are you guys sentiments regarding their make of fishing rods ( WAFT ) ? Refer Tight Line Magazine

Personally, I think they're the best available, top quality Century blanks imported from the U.K, Fuji eyes and reelseats as well. They also cost less than most HMG's available, the Highlander series are 1 piece rods, but their weight and price make up for it.

I have two and I am extremely happy with both. I would recommend them over most other rods for the reasons stated above.

Damba... yes those are good DVD's you mentioned... however, Spyker's one is not that fantastic when it comes to conservation and handling fish correctly. Granted the DVD might be a bit old now... but we need to learn a few things...

They gaff sharks right on the beach, with 2 gaffs, not one, with no ledges or rocks in sight... unnecessary. They handle Rays by sticking their fingers into the "nostrils" of the fish, which is guaranteed to either damage the gills or introduce infection...

Just something that we all should be aware of. They're great teaching videos otherwise...

Oh so that's where jellyfish originate from, ray's sneezing, uhmmmm, I thought as much........:hyst:

No seriously though, I concur with the fact that vid's/dvd's of the likes should be done in a manner that enhances the sense and responsibility of Conservation, but as the Reefer said it's a old production so who ever get's it and watches it, please consider the age and apply better (updated) conservation tactics/handling etc.
