Hi guys, I installed a HDS5 on my FX waverunner. At same time upgraded to the 4.1 software. Not wise.
Found when I start jetski the unit reboots. After a while running the jetski it didn't reboot anymore when started. The batt is charged up more now, but it still reboots at times, looks like when I work with the chart in split screen mode. Have the navionics chart on card. Also sometime just after a startup, it again reboots.
So I measured the ohm of wiring, looks good. The volts drop to below 10V when starter turns, measured on batt. Charged the batteries, still the same. I have dual batt. On the other batt (new) it is a bit better, but after a few turns of starter it also drops below 10 and unit reboots. When I put both on in paralell, the volts drop only to 11 something Volt, so unit doesn't reboot. But now there is no point having 2 batteries, could just as well only have one bigger one. Is this normal on waverunners? on my kawa with garmin, never had a problem. It doesn't seem like the starter is struggling to turn, like when batt is flat. Anyone with similar problems?
I have read about some issues on the gen2 and also on the 4.1 software on rebooting. This is now without starting, just working on the map, then it reboots. So I have downgraded again to 3.5 software. Did not test for long, but it didn't reboot again while working on the chart.
Does anyone know of someone that had similar problems? Thanks.
