i personally vouch for the beachmaster. it is an awesome rod, not much difference between it and the exage except that i don't like the feel of the exage, just a personal preference. having mine customised a bit with a velcro grip and a clear varnish spray for additional protection when fishing on the reefs...have seen serious fish landed with a beachmaster. don't get too hung up on the brand, choose something that feels right. i believe that in stroke rating the beachmaster is round about a four or five and noweeds got his sa record bronzie (227kg) on a stroke 3 because his pentagon stroke seven was in for repairs. just goes to show that the rod will never compensate for the ability of the angler!

on both of the current rod discussions is there any mention made of purglass?

Does this not feature as a good rod. The price tag is about the same as the others mentioned so it should be about the same quality??

about 15 odd km's Got a holiday shack there  and if  they haven't started building new place by then we can crash there ( and party).  Alternatively the guy whom is building the new place has very kindly allowed me the use as well as storage of his posie also in the caravan park.  Maybe ,  providing they behave themselves duane & brett can join us ( as gillies )  for the comp.

 

I am sure that they would be eternally gratefull not to have to sleep in the bush as they normally do !! ::S

I have made up my mind eventually, fished with a Assassin BeachMaster this weekend and it is a really nice stok. Thanks for all the imput guys.

Now the next debate, Torium or Saltist????

i am going to disagree there, saltist cast's better, it weakness is that the drag wears quite fast, but is smoother. the saltist drag and bearings are waterproofed better. the torium is a good reel no doubt but the one is not better than the other.

what you disagreeing with? i never saw a post on the toriums casting better ? :crazy1 LoL


i seen guys who fish on tv with those saltist's and the next day before they go film again thet start with new ones, fact is a decent size shark hurts the reels, a few WP Anglers i know who fish with the Torium have never had those sorts of problems ?

comes down to personal choice i think :whisp

dont worry mate we had a debate about this before, i will be the first one to agree that the saltist drags wear very quickly. as for the tv okes hennie from bigfish safari saltist 50 got quite a few battle scars on his so i know his saltist has been in the wars. ps if my saltist should break my spare reel is speedmaster. i have no loyalty to anybrand.
