Hi Guys

I have noticed that alot of newbies like myself usually start off with targeting eds and then later move to larger species and in-eds. There are alot of "bait" info for shark catchers, but not that much for small specie an estuary "beginner anglers".

Sorry If I have missed the topic if there is already a similar one like this on the site.

Hope you will be so kind as to share some of your valueble info with us newbies on the site.

I will love to see bait presentations for edible species, with nice photos and what species was targeted with this bait and presentation.

It will also be nice to hear from you guys why your bait was presented in such a way as that will give us newbies a better idea of the feeding patterns of the species targeted.

Salted Bloodworm.  To preserve it. As soon as it hits the water it looks the same as if it was pumped that same day.

I always see the hook is exposed, why is that? Can the fish not see the hook?

from my limited experience but then again some angler might differ.

exposed hook ensure a better hook up and hook set.

closed up hook, may decrease your hook up /set on the first take and the fish might only hook on the third /fourth strike, however closed hooks work well when the fish are shy or in colder water when they tend to suck the bait.

i have found that the best hook exposure setting is about a third of the hook gape for eds.

fish cant distinguish what a hook is... really, but they can become accustomed to it and start to avoid the bait... change tactics withing 2 -3 days of catching in a specific area, we do it with dropshot/ lures. if the fish is around and you are getting into them and your neighbor who does exactly what you are doing is not... check what hook exposure he is using... do the math

Thanks Subaruseun, I'll have to get a fish book coz I have no idea what most of these fish look like so if I catch any I would at least know what I caught.
