Been busy with the business, gave up on the commercial fishing, way to much red tape.
If only the easterly would stop blowing I can enjoy fishing again, 4 weeks since my last trip.

Hows things your side?

I have been thinking about getting myself a Xtrail 2.5L 4x4 - there are quite a lot on the market second hand.

How does it perform on soft sand, say Mozambique?

Haven't heard from Neil in a long time, will try and get hold of him.

It was the good old days, you remember Mickey, had a chat with him a couple of weeks ago, same old same old.

The past 6 years was all work for me, building a business here in EC, didn't had much time for fishing, its only the last couple of months that i started to fish every weekend weather permitting.

Ja, I'm cool brother. I've been extremely busy too. Very little fishing.

Maybe there's a reason... personally don't like Nissan but how bad can it be? I don't think I've ever seen an xtrail on the beach...

My wife has a 2013 X-Trail 4x4, the petrol not the diesel.
We have taken it into some pretty rough places, the 4x4 system is pretty good considering it's an SUV not a proper 4x4.
I have had it in some sand, if you deflate the tyres you can get away with it. Nothing too serious though, just not built for serious off-roading.
Nice thing about them is practicality, they have loads of room in the back and a good 4x4 system for it's class.
The new model, not so much.

He came to visit me and helped me build garage doors. Crazy nut, but we lost contact.

Here's a pic. The Jeep guy is Ivan (Koper). The tall guy is Henry vd Hoven from Vredendal.

I will look you up when my travels take me that direction :)

Roachy,

If the vehicle has enough clearance with high enough profile tyres to deflate and a short first gear for thick sand, you should be OK. A lot of sucess depends on the confidence of the driver. I drove a lot on all sorts of beaches in the Transkei with a 2WD Isuzu with difflock and big tyres.
