Hi Guys

I had the unfortunate experience of rolling my aqua quad in the surf and as a result on my the motor has ceased on me. its a yamaha 1992 autolube 40 hp short shaft

I have now returned from the coast and would like to claim from insurance , however the local stealer wants only R4000 to strip the motor and quote on the damages.

This R4000 eats into the total cost to repair and if I only insured for R12500 it leaves little for the repair if it is more than just pistons and rings with a rebore

Would anyone be able to recommend and alternate motor rebuilder

Regards

Jared

ps we caught this the day before

how did it seize up?
why did you not rinse it there and then.

I too rolled my aqua quad but rinsed it and off we went again.

the bearings on the crank shaft is the nightmare here.

I could have assisted you in rebuilding the thing

very easy.

but as you say, rather ask the insurance to appoint there own assessor
or service provider

Hi WWS

I suspect there was a problem with the auto lube

I did rinse and clean the motor,  Pulled the plugs and drained carbs. there was a small amount of moisture on the bottom plug.

I had it up and running in less than an hour after the incident and let it up warm up good and proper.

It stood for a day and we launched again got through the surf and the motor  fortunately locked up only after we were out.

The recovery through the surf was exciting but another whole story, All i can say its good to have such awesome hosts at Bazley.

Incidently i phoned the pretoria agents and they quoted R700 to strip and quote.

dalk nie genoeg 2so in sleevs at the time with the flushing.
if I had the time, I would assit you here.

easy engine, do it yourself and know its done right!!!

the bottom bearing is most of the time the culprit as there can be lots of water there.

time is currently not on my side during the week.
weekends is one thing, but next weekend and the next im down in durbs, fishing!!!!!
