hi guys

i am doing my skippers next week but i am not attending the lectures i am just writting the test so does any body have or know where i can get a copy of a category C skippers exam, i would like to have a look at it and see what sort of questions i can expect in the test and know what exactly i need to know as i cant afford to do the exam more than once as i am a student and they are not cheep to do.

i would really appreciate it if somebody could  help.

Sorry to BURST your bubble, but you have to attend the lectures, its not as easy as you think. and not only that, you learn a lot in the lectures.

A learners test for a drivers license is easy, dont think this is also going to be a walk in the park. its really hard and you need to answers the questions right with the right wording, eg, "you dont through anchor, you drop anchor" another, "you and your crew dont wear life jackets, they don there life jackets."

Rather get a copy of the book, than a copy of the questions.

It is best to attend a course but you dont have too if you have the hours and experience! Check marine notice 13 from SAMSA!!

sorry if i sound unappreciative to your comment but i feel that you misunderstood.

i have lots of experience on boats with way over the required hours and i do have the book and i know it has all the information in it but i would just be interested in how the questions are asked. im not expecting it to be easy and this is why i was wondering if anybody had a copy or knows where i can get one. i just want the best chance of passing it first time.

Hi channing,

I am an examiner myself ( don't want to advertise it though).
IanBass is quite right with his comments.  It is highly recommended that you do the course.  Remember, each examiner sets his/her own papers.  They also have their own stile of marking and interpretation of questions. As university lecturer, I find some of the guys being a bit ridicules at times.   Emphasis should be on Rule of the Road and safety.  Make sure you get the curriculum requirements from the Marine Notice (don't study what you don't need to).
Good luck!
