Hello Smiley, I cannot read structure well, I am the newby after all, but in the surf I look for open channels to the sea first and then what else matters. For what it's worth, at the Wildside.
Here is my catch for the weekend, 67cm Leerie, plus another 1 which is much smaller, but had to get back in water without measuring, due to a bit of blood from 1 gill. But both successfully released, the injured 1 took a bit longer to revive, but swam away strongly eventually. And I had a photographer, who also caught a nice 1, also released. All on lures and light tackle, great fun deluxe!!
The Leeries are back in town...hee haa!! They will return to our coast every year if, and only when, we release all catches!! And only then, will they be kind enough to inspect our funny looking and splashing lures!!

I normally only fish rivers and have never had any luck with lures on the surf. Today I decided to try the Bluewater Bay surf. It was not 10 minutes and this juvenile picked me up, after I released it another one picked me up but sadly came off. Regardless I got my first Garrick on the surf and I will definitely be back for more.

Nice one Predator, congrats on your first Leerie in the surf!!
Here is my catch this morning at the Wildside, another 1 successfully released.
Did not measure, as my measuring is normally crap, I use the rod, but got a tape from the wife now. I struggled to get the hook out, although a single which is de-barbed, but hook exited at awkward place, just below the eye. So I did not bother measuring to save time to get it back in water soonest.

All went well, it swam off very strongly. Excuse the sandy pic, but I was on my ace, and had no photographer this time.

Heoow. Smily.
Shads make some lekka chow.
When i keep one i microwave them.
5min and fresh bread and supper is ready.

River have been so on and off ive also spent some time in the breakers.
Got this guy during the rain so the drops on the lens spoiled the pic a bitbut the sea was up and man it took off mooi in the current when if clapped the spoon. Nothing like some head shakes on braid and a big sea to get the anxiety levels up.

No I didn't bother. It was raining so hard I just took a pic and put it back. Was around 15odd kg or so I suppose.

Newby it seems u stay in the right area so just keep fishing. There's stax of cob in you're region.

Just spooled my new surf reel with 20lbs 832. Its a 5500 ultegra. Dam the thing takes a lot of line. Prob just over 450m.
Can not wait to break that baby in soon.
