Am I really the only lure fisherman left in pe with a camera who still catches in pe this thread has died

I prefer single hooks over trebles as I release most of my fish (the one above was released) and trebles have a greater chance of damaging the fish.
The assist hook setup seen above tends to give a better hook up rate than attaching the single directly to the lure.

It seems like when they hit the lure they miss it completly and with the trailer they actually get hooked but I notice that u got sum feathers and the trailer quite far back all part of trail an error I suppose? I really need to make a plan with my clones cause I have thrown them for hours get knocks but no hookups no matter how slow I retrieve them!

Hi guys I see you regularly catch cob on lures from the surf. I would like to know if any of you have caught a cob on lure from van stadens surf? I often fish there and have caught shad and garrick on lure there before but never a cob. I would like to know if vanstadens has produced success for some of the anglers in the past or would a person be better off going to sundays or gamtoos? Any comments will be much appreciated

Van stadens can be great man. Just need the right structure and swell. Often the better formation forms up the coast towards gam.
But stick it out and fish close paralell banks. The cob often sit off the working water.

Cool. We get cob here the whole season so just keep going. But not in huge frontal swells. Not easy to fish a huge surge and can get dangerous too when wading.

Thanx I will keep all your advise in mind when fishing my next session might go on my next mission this weekend if we are lucky enough to have better weather than this past weekend.

As Spin said, you can catch there when the right conditions present themselves.
For cob in the surf off a sandy bottom, retrieve your lure low and slow.

Thanx for the advice vades. Ja I know what you mean with the often big seas and the strong side currents one often finds there. Another problem I have experienced there is that in the summer moths the easterly winds blows there often making the water cold. Is vanstadens still fishable with lures when the water gets that cold or would you only be wasting your time fishing with lures in the cold water? Thanx for all the replies guys you insight is much appreciated

Hi guys went to hougy overnight decided I am going to try throw some lures threw for 2 hours then came to the conclusion I need more equipment aswell as allot more knowledge I was using my 8ft exseller with 2500 Siena and 10pd whiplash worked like a dream except no fish there was lots of of reef every time I tried getting to the bottom I lost a lure witch was not kewl where are the closet places for me to try this fishing with out losing my lures
