in need of your help.

i have a boat, and the only safe way to mount the transducer, is through the hull of the boat.

is there any restrictions regarding the hull thickness?

what is the pro's and cons regarding trough hull tranducing?

Just make sure it transducer can be used as a through hull.
If the fish finder has a temperature feature it will not give you an accurate reading as it will be in the hull.

Normally the transducer will have to be glued onto the inside of the hull.

I had one that I put it into a pipe filled with mineral oil and it worked just fine.

but will the transducer pick up a water temp difference, lower down the water collum?

I also was looking at the through hull transducer for my boat.
It get a bit expensive when you get the type that fits flush with the hull.
I never liked cutting holes in the hull, thus I settled for a skimmer.

Shoot thru is either gluing the transducer to the hull or fitting it in a container filled with liquid.  - If fitted correctly, this system can work sufficiently.  However, this is a little like mounting a pair of speakers to a piece of board for your car, but not drilling the hole out.  You still going to hear the 'music', but it's far from ideal.

Thru Hull is a specially designed transducer with a long 'stem' on it to be fitted via a hole drilled thru the hull.  This works very well, but has draw backs for smaller boats (<30ft) either parked on the shore at times, or beached.

Transom mount is as it says, mounted externally to the transom.  This is by far the best way for your average sports fishing vessel.  When set up correctly you will be getting 100% performance out of your transducer.
