fished my first postal at the skei. left thursday after work and tested the water on friday and fished the comp on saturday.
we fished 1st ledge at umgazaan on friday and thats when we got fish.
on saturday at the comp...we went to tonga and found a club already there. they had a dead blackfin of about 60kg in the rock pool and said it died after releasing. we went to small tonga about a km away and the stench of that shark was all over the skei lol. we fished crystal clear water and i changed baits every half hour but myself and every1 else never get a single bite
i put out flapped shad....live shad....whole bonnie...bonnie head...makeral bomb...whole makkie....mullet...blacktail...karanteen whole chokka...and every other possible bait but we didnt even have an enquiry.
i think the dead shark was drawing the attention of the big sharks like whites and zambies and because of that...the smaller greys and tack hammers were no were in the area
anyway...an amazing trip with a great bunch of guys.
thanks to kk..glen and my entire club....i had an awsum time and cant wait to do it again.
i have a newfound respect of 1 of gods greatest creations....the skei ....and hope it remains as beutiful and majestic for all its life.
also...i have a new found respect for all the skei anglers and fishing in clubs. every single guy that fished the kei...and knows what they doin....i take my hat of to u.
to the guys buying new tackle to swim baits etc....lol...its a total different scenario when u there, rather start small and catch a 2okg shark first that u wana swim before tackling the big guys. i myself am not experienced in it and hope to do it more often so i can learn from my mistakes.
any way...first day at first ledge at umgazaan....we were testing waters and i sent out a live shad. after an hour....mr rag bag latched on and gave me a good fight. brought him to the edge and he swam under the ledge and cut me off....there went my first raggie. hope to meet up with him again soon
