There is not really a thing like a "bad" reel anymore and especially not with top end brands. So I believe that it is good but I dont really thing one is much better than the other. I think it more a thing that you have to choose the correct reel for your style of fishing.

I like SHIMANO and I like lever drags. But then The avet is nice for what I do now but I still want one size bigger reel as well.

One will never have "enough" tackle either...

this saltiga is the same size as a trini 50, the older saltigas where to small for me.

stapies does your have have back play in the handle

stapies evidence of you saying nothing anymore about a bad reel is the okuma makaira. that thing is a beast of a reel the size 15, is what im looking at and has a T-bar handle aswel as a 34lb drag and wont break easy

So now I may be interested in a Talica 25 or a Saltiga LD60 to replace my Torium 50 but which will it be???

Both reels have been in the market for a while and on Basil Mannings site they look like they have ended up very similar on price!!
So who is using these reels and what do you think?

Fluke, what was your final choice?

Here are some specs:

That's full drag on a full spool.

When down to 25% full and half a turn extra on the tension dial both pump out over 100lbs of Drag

Although the LD 60 is in total weight a touch heavier the spool is a lot lighter and can spin up a lot faster.

Same rate of retrieve.

something that I find very interesting is that they say the Talica takes the same amount of Mono as the LD60 but about 27% less Braid????????????????

I have the Talica and 5 of my friends have the LD60 and I have filled both with Braid and Line and the LD 60 takes almost 100m more 0.60mm on top of 600m of 75lbs Braid.
