Oi, Maybe add some Glyserine or TCP, but Mealies is not that expensive.

Buy them in big bags at the Petshop, think R25,00 for 5 kilo's.

If you want to flavour mealies just get some Koo whole kearnels and add some almond, pineapple, caramel strawberry essence etc. They still don't have preserving additives in and this can make them go bad after a while.

What I would recomend is that you buy mealies at the Petshop and cook them in a slowcooker for feed (mealiebomb's). Buy some flavoured pips at your tackle shop because they cost about R10,00 a bottle.

I would only grow some mealies in my garden if I am going to use them on the braai from time to time ;)

Ek het in April vroeer die jaar R89 vir 'n 25 kilo sak kaboem mielies betaal by die koperasie (Obaro as ek reg onthou) op die ou warmbad pad naby VNN.

Ek sal ook al my 'voer' mielies self op eet as dit in my tuin groei. hahaha

you can buy wild bird seed, (i think it R80 for 40kg) add some corn starch (mazena) some eggs and dips. Works well. plus its already been dried so it doesnt go off.

or pig feed, its a nice powder, (especially for barbel, this is one of my biggest secrets) well was, add mazena and eggs, and watch the barbel come in from miles around.
