Best Angling method:
Artlure for all the above species. Favorite lures are the small Salmo Hornets, Efzett spoons and Loodkops for both Barbel and carp
Why this dam:
It is still a relativly unpolluted dam - Wild to say the least/un developed has some massive and very powerfull fish - Some of the largest and most aggressive crocodiles I have ever seen. Huge nesting colonies of birds. Herds of structure and it is far from the hustle and bustle of city life......

make it 320km and then you got Bloemhof. In my opion the best dam for freshwater fishing.
Carp, grass carp, barbel, yellow fish, muddies
I’m into bank angling, so normal "gly rietvlei" trace for carp and there's a couple traces for barbel the guys use.
I'm not an expert on Bloemhof but I think that the sandy bottom creates a perfect environment for breeding. Bloemhof features every year in National Championships that get hosted at Bloemhof and as you may be aware the World Carp Championship taking place later this year at Bloemhof. It always delivers at these championships and tons of fish gets caught. It’s also a very popular venue for recreational anglers.

AGree Bloemhof is a great dam with some seroius Munsta fish but it is really just a carp and Barbel destination and it can get ugly if it is cold or if the wind blows -but yeah I like your thinking. I got mates fishing there from today till Sunday - they say it is like a ghost town - ain't nobody there.......

Yip agrees. Only drawback is the km from JHB/Pta and Mpumalanga. That must be heaven. The less people the better. 
Harties use to be a top venue but not anymore with the pollution, crime and development around the dam. Favourite spot use to be the Crocodile river inflow to the dam. The old "Ouplass". Now it’s multimillion rand properties development along the river. :-(

Without a doubt - Loskop Dam - so many different species of fish there.

This dam has an array of fish. Caught som fat Brown Squeakers and decent Silver Barble there as well. Dam has some good structure and thye fish there are wild!!
