As Robyosh mentioned, Island lake has some of the biggest leeries I have seen, unfortunately we try to keep it a bit quiet because of some people almost going commercial on them - killing all they can catch ! And i am not talking about the local indigini , man I must be on the water one day and come across these chaps !!

Anyhoo, I have landed a few good fish on artificials - namely, spook, arc minnows and lipless cranks. There are also some healthy bass in Island lake, so if the leeries are quiet try get some bass. There are lots of other species in this body of water such as carp, steenie, big southern striped mullet, big tilapia and the odd grunter and stumpies.

Thanks for info, I understand keeping it quiet. We are strictly catch and release so I hear you re those that clean out places.

Hi guys

Im going up to wilderness in 2 weeks time and im staying at Ebb and Flow rest camp, wanted to know a few things, ive looked at this post and people haven't been chatting about this topic for a while so i wanted to know where is a good spot to fish? What will I be catching? What bait to use? Is there Bullsharks or other sharks in the river as theres plenty in the Breede River? Im using my rubber duck with trollying motor and what to fish the whole day in Lake Island and the Serpentine. I also want to hit Groenvlei if possible. Im staying over for 3 Nights and would like some advice on fishing near the camp site. Id like to be ready and fully prepared when im on the water to catch the different kinds of fish in the river so i really need some good advice on how to catch them and what bait to use

Regards
