Hi all,
PE is flanked by two very very productive fishing grounds. Sundays River to the East and Gamtoos to the West. Both are great for fishing off the beach. But where do my fellow PE fisherman fish closer to home? I want to fish before or after work during the week so going to Sundays or Gamtoos isn't really practical.
My biggest concern with lure fishing around the PE coast is finding a spot where you can safely access the open ocean. Everything West of Cape Recief either has 10 foot waves coming towards you or where its sheltered it has rocks in front of you which you can't cast over. Or I find a good spot and there are rocks five metres in front of you and then open water so your guaranteed to loose your lure or snap your braid. I'm sure traditional rock and surf anglers with bait would be happy to fish here where you can cast and then move back into safety while you wait for a bite but this is obviously not suitable to do when spinning.
Maybe I'm not identifying spots and structure correctly, I don't know, but any pointers or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
