Hi all

Is there a recipe regarding making floaties yourself?

I have found recipes for boilie making (including 'pop-ups') and have made my own and have had relative success on them. But i can't find any info on the making of floaties.Please help.

I think its way easier just to buy a bottle of floaties. Think the manufacturing of floaties entails the baking of a maise paste.

I use regular popcorn, afer popping it, break the big round head of the popped corn off, thats your floatie. Flavour it with balldip of your choice, by putting very little balldip in a container with the popcorn and shake it, take it out of the container and allow to dry. Do not use to much dip or pour the dip directly on the popcorn otherwise it absorbs to mush and shrinks. I have been making my own floaties like this and it works great.

Hi anton. I was thinking of making my own popcorn floaties aswell. How long do they last after making and do you have better success on sweet/fruity or strong dips?

Totally not cost effective. If you want do a search there was a discussion around this a wile back and enigma explained to us how it is made.

made my own "FX" style popcorn floats, just hard work trying to get them nice and round. Will have to see if they deliver any results :fishn

Way too much work for very little improvement (if any) on catches. R12 or so for n bottle of floaties is not much.

R12 is not much, but good luck in trying to find any floats in that price range in my valley. Little competition = monopoly prices. I dont understand why people get so worked up over "flavoured" floaties, because when you open the bottle it smells good but take one out and it smells of nothing. Then you must take into account the fact that the "flavour" fades away underwater. Flavoured floats are mainly aimed at catching the angler then fish in my opinion. I say focus on colour and presentation of hookbaits and let the groundfeed deliver the attraction.

Gertus, I think the popcorn thing will work a charm for you there. Just break off the popped open skin and you have something you wont be able to make on you own. The way Enigma explained it is dough the get cooked at very very high temperature and very very quickly.
