I have a 14ft traveler surf 3 piece rod which im thinking of useing to make a roep stok will it be possible or am i just wasing my time. I it's possible then where can i get the interline eyes from or how can I make my own.  Thanks for the help

Strip all guides

Grind 3cm by 4mm groove into blank 70cm above reel seat

Fit Interline guide

Remove plugs from base of mid and tip sections

Fit interline tip

Spool reel with a 0.50mm braid to protect rod (150-200lbs)

You're good to go

Interline guide + 2 tips for R75 plus shipping

just a question, what is the purpose of using such heavy braid when some 0.75 mono can do the same job, is cheaper and more camouflaged when the water is very clear?

I hear you Chris and in an instance agree.

Won't cut the rod but the line will get hammered against the inside of the rod.

On the other hand with the 130lbs Jerry Brown you can also cast the pumkinseeds
a fair distance into structure, hook the fish and go fetch him from where he's hanging in the tree

Good point it may be more castable on the 'smaller' reels and not chafe but rather get stuck on wood

Nothing better than braid. Nylon gets sticky inside the tube and makes it difficult to adjust the required lenght you want to use. Sometimes, especially in structure you need to quikly adjust your line length. But also when using the dipping method. Braid is soft and quickly adjustable.
Need a thick diameter braid for tube rods. Jerry Brown the best if you can get it.
Roepstok usually not build for casting. The Twin Action or Kajak version can be used for casting, but not the Big Shot. All Blue MArlin types of roepstokke.

I've been following the info wrt roepstokke out of interest.  Just one question.

There where you cut the groove for the Interline guide, doesn't it weaken the blank there & make it prone to collapsing?

koper I reckon that the blank is so thick there near the base that it wont make much of a difference

Just s mentioned, the base section is thick enough to take the compromise to the structure.

We also bind on both sides of the groove to support the blank

The Blue Marlin's do have a cosmetic reinforcing Carbon Twill that I personally believe is there for looks and not functionality

Thanks guys for all the advice. ill def be ordering myself a set of eyes now a quick question is after removing the eyes from the rod how do i get the rod down to it blank colour so  i dont have to spray it.

Could you please show photos of the guide and eyes. Do you also show how to fit them when one buys the stuff? Can one use any 2 or 3 piece rod or will a 1 piece work better? Long butt or short butt? What length rod is best?

Only one way to bind the interline and the tip is fitted like you'd fit any tip.

If it remains an issue I will do a post on it, but till now I haven't had prior requests on this as I've built/converted 20 odd rods and sold 3 sets of the Interline guides to guy's who followed the DIY route

I made my own roepstok using components and advice from Enigma. Still need to see if it will stand up to a proper fish though...
