Hi All
I had the pleasure of meeting anton on many occasions in our warehouse as he was for a while managing an estate up north and removed from his friendly fishing waters.
His visits were never short and never without plenty of fishing talk.
I and many other have great respect for his abilities as angler and it took a lot of convincing for him to allow me to post this.
He caught this beast 3 weeks ago.
(In light of this please read and think before typing, this catch is a once in a Generation catch on this tackle and not just a once in a lifetime catch)
He was out doing some light spinning on the Beach near the Swartvlei mouth on the Cape South Coast when he hooked into this absolute Leviathan...........
Tackle Used:
• Shimano Sustain 5000
• Yamaga Blue Sniper 10ft Rod
• 30lbs Jigman Braid
• 20lbs Flouro leader
• 60gram Duel Tamentai spoon
The fish dragged Anton 1.5km up the beach from where he hooked it. It had turned belly up by the time he landed it and after 1 hour of concerted attempts to revive the fish it died, much to his dismay.
Anton weighed the fish 16 hours after landing it and it weighed in at an almighty 64.5kg
Considering that with shark tackle Kompstamps attempt to revive his fish after 1 hour and then Havoc taking took 1 hour to release his 50kg Kob the chances were slim that it would recover from the fight on the tackle used. His dismay has been great and as a result he has held back on making the catch public (He tried for an Hour but himself was to Exhausted and the fish was showing no Signs of Life).
So guys enjoy the pics and give credit where credit is due
Thanks for sharing Anton and Congratulations
