hi all i am planning to take a trip down the transkie coast at the end of the year.

i am going to be staying at a few places along the coast.

starting with mkambati then moving to mboyti, wavecrest and finally going to end up at Kie river. planning on spending 2 more days somewhere new in the transkie so hoping someone will be able to give me some info on a nice place to fish.

i know mkabati and mboyti well as i fish there alot but if any one knows some secret spots there please let me know.

planning on dropshot and using some big stuff to.

so please if you have some info for me drop me a message.

A Transkei trip will not be complete without fishing Brazen Head. Its regarded by many as THE top fishing spot in the country.

Hey Bushman

I am also going down to Mbotyi over Dec/Jan, You say you have been there regularly. Please any tips on where and what to use, anything. I want to arrive with as much info as possible.

I was at Mbotyi last December and had a ball...........

The river is very shallow and does not offer too much exciting. I had one hit on dropshot and saw a few small grunter tailing in the evenings.

The place to go early in the morning is to shark point in the south where the shad normally boil for a few hours.

Keep some alive in a pool and when all the shad bangers leave at around 9:30 you will normally have the place to yourself. Then is the time to slide a live shad......last year we got a span of hammers and hooked a few subs that were unstoppable. We saw cuda jumping withing casting range of the point and saw a shoal of 8 shad come through that were no less than 6-8 kilos each...clearly swimming on the surface.

Small blacktail and mullet also make awesome livebaits....don't forget dorado have even been taken off this point!!

You walk over a small wooden bridge to get to the point and the pool below is a amazing spot to swim when the temp starts to go throught the roof.

There are also many brilliant gullies between shark point and the cottages for edibles.

Also a good idea to get a gillie to help you with bait boxes etc......ask for Strong and DiDI.......

It's within walking distance. From Mboyti itself you walk down the road to the beach, go across the small river and then walk South. You will see the path running along the hill. You can't miss shark point. But the gillies will show you the best route!

well i am planning on been there sometime between 11th to the 16th.
got 5 days to mess around along the coast till i get to KIE.
oh one thing ignoblis is take a sand Prawn pump as the lagoon is full up and the grunter go wild nothing bigger then 1.5 kg but fun on small tackle.
make sure to fish some of those gullies on the way to sharks point got a blacktail off there close on 3kg wish i had a scale to measure it.
another nice place is on the beach infront of the hotel slide a whole chakka or shad head out lots of big flatties come through my brother got a nice 75KG flattie in 2004.

I am wondering from loking at the pics posted previously if that is you perhaps in the Latest ESA mag with a 20Kg Saily on dropshot in Tanzinia ??????

the photo looks quite a bit like it could be.
