JohanVC/LGF will give you a good report on the lake, I know Johan rates it as one of the beter venues in gauteng, he pulled a 4kg+ bass there...

If they dont respond just send them a PM.

Cheers

Well Bass lake is defiantly worth it. I was there 3 times during December and lost a mother of a fish. If we had to rate it, it must have been over 6kg because that puppy was huge and unfortunately I thought I was brave and took him/her on with 10lb line :(

Yes I took one at 4.1kg and LGF took one at 2.26kg

The best advice I can give you is to fish Texas rigged. All depends on the weather. But senko's any watermelon color or super flukes in the same color. The last time we were there I and my Pro staff member and manager Danie from Rod and marine got close to 270 fish. At one stage we were just sitting down and casting and reeling fish in
Just remember that the costs are:
R50 entry
R100 Fishing license for the day
R300 deposit that they return when you leave

Bud Bass Lake works on a very strict (that's why you pay R300 deposit and get your vehicle searched before leaving) catch and release.  So if you wanna take fish for the pot or grill, my advice would be to rather get them somewhere else.

is it a recommended venue?  Hell Yeah!!! Sight fishing huge fish like that in crystal clear waters, actually seeing how they chomp down on an oversized lure...... heart-stopping.

There's just one problem with Bass Lake, you never go just once, you'll always return and in between you'll have to fish the venues that since your Bass Lake visit has become sort of well, not as nice as they used to be.

Here's the link with info for the venue: http://www.sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=615&forum_id=31, page through it is the last listed venue in that thread.

Just as soon as my personal friend Mr. Trevor Manual gets his loyal servants lined up so that he can pay me all the monies he's owing....... been more than a month since we were there..... still need to crash into that huge patrolling subsurface submarine.... remember the one that chommped me bait several times and then swam off......

Well I tried Bass Lake on Monday and was very satisfied. Caught my 1st bass (I am still on a beginners  stage) and was very glad.It was on the small side but still it is my first fish and things can only go better and bigger from here. I caught a few small ones and tried to catch a big one that was swimming around but no luck Some other fisherman did catch a nice size of +/- 4.5kg on the other side of the dam where you need a boat or float tube. There is plenty of fish and it is worth to visit Bass Lake and I will definitely go again to try and catch the BIGGER one.

Thx for all the info

another satisfied customer, man they should start paying us royalties for getting so many sealiners to visit that place, glad you enjoyed it, better luck next time, i've been there twice and my biggest is only a 2,26kg, which admittedly i caught off daducky, but i also had something much larger chomp on a bait right next to the furthest point left right on the bank, so I tooooooo will go again and again....
