Hi all,

Does anyone have Carp etc. tips for Rietspruit dam? What works? I believe the level is low at the moment. Has the recent rain affected fishing? The missus, lightie and I are booked in at Amigos at the end of October and would really appreciate some help before hand. Its my first time there, although my brother-in-law swears by the place.

Feedback on Rietspruit:

Beautiful place to go camp. One of the nicer ones I have been to. The resort was extremely full this weekend. Nice place for the whole family due to the facilities avaialble. Dam is very low at the moment. Wind was an absolute nightmare this weekend, making camping and fishing miserable, but I believe such bad wind :hyst:is not a standard feature there!

Not sure what the other fisherfolk were catching (although most seemed to be small Carp). We only caught small carp, none bigger than a kilo or so. All were released (funny - I think we were the only ones without a keep net!). One Barbel of around 5kg was caught on platanna.

I know you pasted this quit a while back, what did you guys use and have you been back there after this trip?

 

We are planning a trip to a "new" location for a change and heard of Amigos and thought we would give it a bash.

 

I do not want to drive that far and then it turns out to be a blank weekend.

Morning guys,

New to the forum and would like to comment on Rietspruit dam.

The facilities at the dam are one of the best but as far as fishing for big carp, I doubt you will record your PB.

I have been many times to the dam and haven't blanked once. Fish with small baits i.e comp. floatie with a small backing. Supercast fx/caramel dip works well.:)

I personally do not think Rietspruit is a dam for specimen angling and i would not even go for rigging up a boilie or tigernut.

Great, as long as I know the fish are comming out and they are not 300g's and we can pick up some in the region of about 3 kilos, I am happy.

This be a little more family weekend than a serious big carp fishing weekend.

Do you guys know what species of fish there are in the dam?

I am booked from the 27th of April till the 2nd of May, B-shore stand 7. Also for the first time. Please give me feedback on your experience, would be greatly appreciated. Maybe if you can take a photo or two of stand 7 and water in front that would be great.

Search Rietspruit on the forum and you will find some information.

Ook oorspronklik van daar. Familie nog steeds daar en besoek gereeld. Van my beste visvang dae in die Welkom omgewing gehad.

Hai daar ouens

Ek was so 'n maand terug daar dit kan meer wees. die ding van hierdie dam is daar gaan ongelooflik baie ouens wat competisie van na rietspruit toe en soos almal weet mag 'n net goi in sekere klubs so die manne van supercast as hulle na rietspruit toe gaan om te oefen of om die kompetisie te wen kan een hengelaar tot en met 200 kg voer in die dam weg gooi so dit beteken dat al die klein vissies in daardie omgewing van so 50 m tot 80 m rond speel en om 'n lekker grote te van moet jy diep in gaan my persoonlike beste by rietspruit is 6kg karp het nooit weer daar uit gekom nie.  daardie naweek het ons grotes van so 4 kg uit gehaal.  daardie dam werk net op soet goed supercast fx en so nou en dan tcp!! as julle die geheim van daardie dam wil he wat ek gebruik ppm my en ek sal julle vertel.  sterkte vir die wat na rietspruit toe gaan julle moet dit geniet en geniet die geriewe van amigos!

Thanks vir info. Ek besig om aasboot aan die gang te kry en my kayak gaan saam, so kan diep ingaan as ek moet. Gaan nie kla oor die kleintjies nie, kinders kan besig bly.

:fishn hey there me and my friend are going there for this weekend last wen we were there we used pinksweets "the dip" and we  dit catch for the weekend 21 fishes normal size  so i think thats the best but  im gone try this weekend again
