Hey guys thought I'd start a tread on favorite phodies with info on the catch such as weight, bait, location etc.

Caught this Barbel on 6'' shimano nexave and pro caster reel in 2008

used a topwater frog, weighed 8kg caught at Renosterspruit Free State.

Grootbek gele met dieselfde stok, het 'n silwer Bass spinner gebruik, nie geweeg nie wou hom terugkry in die water maar skat hom 1.5kg.

Barbel caught on carp fillet, Daiwa saltist50 with shimano rod, Krugerdrif dam, early summer in the morining, overkill tackle so the fight was fast. Weighed just over 16kg.

Beautiful fish. How light do you guess could you have gone in terms of tackle for a 16kg fish like this? Due to inexperience I sometimes think that I fish too heavy - no spirit in overkill.

I often catch barble in that class with 5.5kg high abrision. The barble in my avatar was very close to 20kg and got it out with the same line. My leader is about 8kg. Lots of fan on light tackle.
