Hey guys. So it came about earlier in the week that a friday night session at palms was on

I managed to leave early in the afternoon with my mate wade
We got there and I was pleased at how good the water looked.
A while later dave and katot arrived just in time for the first pull
I had a secondhand frigate out and it got hammered. My rod spike was bending and the reel was screeming
I picked up and as I tightened up I looked out to check this biig blacktip going bossies on the surface
It was rolling and breaching contiously and then the inevitable pop goes the leader.

Man I was pumped. At least the other guys got to see what a blacktip does when hooked

Anyways I quickly slid a mackie and went tight with a 99cm dusky.

Wade snuck off and came back a while later with a nice blacktail
We were all amped for the next pull. Wat was next. Hehehe weeeeelll
I sent the blacktail and 2min later screeming reel
Picked up and set the hook and then felt the sinker hookup. Eish the fish was flying off and so my slide got pulled over the leader and burned off. Nooit man
It was another big fast fish.

My lip was hanging.

Here the dusky

So I ask wade verry nicely to go try for anothe blacktail while we try other baits
Nothing going on. We had a leka braai and chat. And parked off a while. Wade got a beaut blacktail and I decided to keep it for later

At about 1 myself and katot were trying for a bag on the low and I got pulled by 2 spottys I think but lost both. I then decided to join the other guys and have a lie down for 2hours
At about 5 dave wakes me up. Katot got smoked and jumped off aswell a good 300+m run. Eish
He also lost a spotty or hound.

Anyway at sunup I sent a yellowtail head out the water looked great but nothing happening ?
Wade and I had to leave early and left dave and katot still trying for a pull.

So eish 7pulls 3 biig fish lost and 3small. And only a dusky
All the exitement joh. I gotta get back soooon.

Hope the other guys got a pull after we left.
Thanks for the outing was nice meeting katot great guy.

@ boepens my blacktail was chowed completely as there was nothing left but a clean hook when I reeled it in, then we called it quits and decided to keep the rest of the bait for a better day. After we reeled in myself and Katot tried casting each others rigs, all I can say is that A BG 50 rules and whips a Tor 30's ass in terms of casting.

I was happy at least that katot finally got to test out my 1.2mm wind-ons, it held up just lekka on that 300m run of his.

When I started out shark fishing I never knew that Non-eds could be such a bunch of fussy buggers, as I sent out a roman head,niks,1 week old blacktail... niks. They were only taking fresh baits like sand silvie and blacktail.

Oh well then there's the walk home and yet again another blank to add insult to injury. To make matters worse I bring all my tackle with me when I go fishing so as you can see by this picture I was in discomfort walking back.

Here's a picture of the blacktail that I sent out early this morning. I was really expecting a pull from this bait.

Dave, keep your bait for a better day?? How much better than 7 bites and 3 smashed at the hands of Blacktips do you want your day to be??

If dead u cut to release smell and flavour. Also whole the twist in the water and bugger up the trace.

Only slide livies whole. Or more streamlined baits

@ FLUKE they were only taking fresh baits and the raggies were not around so I'm keeping them for Mazeppa or Fish Point. My boet is gonna try for some shad tonight and hopefully I'll have some shad heads in my freezer tonight.

@ Smiley we cut it so that it bleeds and gets flavor into the water.

I am still licking my wounds......but hey what a fun night. Great meeting Boepens and Wade. One thing is for sure at Leonards you are not going to outfish Boepens. I had to wait till everybody went to sleep before I could manage a bite. Pity the blacktips had some sidecutters with them.

I think the "mini-social" can be best described as a hiding:fbash

Well now we have to start making plans for revenge.......

@Dave, Boepens' first pull was on a frigate he'd slid before, it was far from fresh, you should have persisted.

@ Smiley, that is exactly the way to cut a blacktail. I however rig it with a cable tie through the eyes and then a 2nd cable tie joining the 1st one to the hook. That way it is better secured to the hook and the hook is more central in the bait.
