Hey Guys,

New to the forums and well "basically" new to fishing, want to get out one weekend to a quick fishing spot. Was wondering what spot would be best for a full day trip, what equipment I should get/use, where to get it and what bait i should use.

Im thinking of Rietvlei,  Struben Dam or Bon Accord?

I know its kind of vague but we really wouldnt mind catching anything, preferably something nice to the taste buds...

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have any tackle at all? And how far would you be willing to travel? I think Harties is a good option for day fishing conventional style. Rietvlei and Roodeplaat is not always so easy, but you should be able to get some nice cats at Roodeplaat. Then there is Bronkhorstspruit.

Do a search from the main page. It can be very helpfull.

Yea I have some tackle.. mostly from stuff thats left behind from relatives moving and giving it to me. Dont know when to use any of it etc. Was thinking something within 30min drive from Pretoria...

No problem. I am busy compiling a helpfile for conventional angling beginners. Nothing too intense, but I am sure a lot of guys will gain from it and hopefully some of the experts can add to it. Just have to get the pics right, then I will post it in the conventional section.
