My JR frikkie suffered for months with itchy skin, the vet took some skin scrapings from the affected area and said it was a mite, he gave him some antibiotics and said that if it doesn't clear the mite, he probably would scratch himself into depression. We tried everything that the internet had to offer but the best remedy believe it or not Is Bob Martin Eczema lotion and high quality pellets such as purina or eukanuba. Rub the lotion onto the skin under the fur everyday without fail even until the irritation has cleared and never change from the pellets, hope the doggems feel better!

Can anyone suggest food types , I see this thread was started in 2009 , so there might have been other products that came on the market, using Montego at the moment that contains ostrich meat as far as I know.

We are feeding max health pet diet

I feed my rottie Eukanuba , really good quality stuff.

The Lab had a weight problem so we put him on Ultra Dog Low Cal, he shredded the KGs and is back to his ideal weight

....and he now has a heart problem so we have changed to Hills Prescription H/D food.

The other brand of food that I would highly recommend is Royal Canin, the majority of members at our club feed their rotties this as they have a rottie specific food. They also have other breed specific food.

As treats or something to chew on , raw tripe from the butcher.

Generally avoid canned food and cooked bones is asking for intestine trouble,
