Hey guys,

It has been ages since I have been here. So much has happened in my life. To sum it up, I quit my job and signed up for a 8 week commercial divers course (with John) based here in Strand.

Since this is the first time we have been out this side (with spearing gear) we have no idea on where to go really.

We were hoping some of you guys know of good spots to go to in Rooiels and/or Betty's.

Good directions, GPS co-ords or a Google maps image would be HIGHLY appreciated. We are here for another 5 weeks and need to shoot some fish.

Good to be back on here, hope everyone is well.

Regards, Shifty

Ahoy there mr Nivvy!

I asked someone the other day how you were the other day. You've been very quiet of late. Now I know why. I hope your course goes well!

Rooi Els is a mystery to me. I have only ever driven through it to get to Betty's.

I practically lived in Betty's and fished every weekend with my grandfather. We found some spots that are very productive from the shore (rock & surf angling) between Pringle bay and Palmiet. I know a few spots that could be good to dive, however, many of the awesome spots are in the protected area between Stony point and Jocks Bay. Stay clear of there... Only Poachers are 'allowed' to dive there! The other factor is Viz not normally renowned for the cleanest conditions. Hanklip has a few nice spots to dive. There are a few other spots worth diving.

I'll try post something later in the week. Who knows, I might even be able to meet you for a dive, if I get a gap.

Come on guys, I know there are lots of you out there that can help out as well.

Chat soon,
L

Hey ledge,

Yeah mate I have been crazy busy.
We went out to that area just before the reserve in Betty's but like I said after 2 hours only fish we saw was one Jutjaw and a Gully Shark. It was a fun dive none the less.

It would be great if you could pull through for a dive some time.

I have been quite the opposite lately, but the last week or two has been SILLY! I'm really stoked about that!

Are you only available on weekends? During the week?

Let me know.
Cheers,
A

Howzit guys,

From what I've seen and heard the viz on that side of FB up to Betties is not good at all and with gnarly weather predicted for this weekend I doubt that it's going to improve.

Let me know if you plan to make a mission next week...I'm may be able to nip off some time to squeeze in a dive and will be happy to show you some of the spots that I know of...

Cheers

with all the swell coming now, im sure its gonna be a bit pomped. but with that in mind, we dived on wednesday near betties, and viz was about 6meters or so. perfect for shooting. but lets see what happens with the conditions.
