im going to Stilbaai at the end of the month for a week and am taking a boat up!!:kaykak

Want to know if any of you guys know any good spots/ reefs for spearing off a boat or from shore?? Looking to get alot of fish and some great dives in??



Ive never dived at this place before so any info will be great

The Blinder just past Jongensfontein has good reef all around it and the tail swim past it on the land side quite frequently. Otherwise a longer run down to Odendaals Punt also produces good tail and leeries.

Hi,

There are quite a few good spots against the side there, both past and before the blinder, although the blinder is a great spot, with a lot of reef.  You can also run East from the harbour to Ystervark punt, there is quite a lot of reef in that area.  If it is clean, you can run close inshore and look for the patches of reef - the limestone reef there is great for big baardies, and you can get literally anything in most areas there - cracker poensies, big tail & leeries.  And there have been quite a few big kob shot at Stilbaai over the years.  Ystervarkpunt has quite a bit of reef offshore as well that can be productive.

Just pay attention, you can get whites in very shallow water there, we had a very aggro one well past the blinder in 12 feet of water on the first jump of a copmetition!!

There is a wreck at Ystervark, the Haliartus, that can be good for cracker (and we got tail there).  It is right against the side at 34 23 60 and 21 41 70

thank you jensent!! well cant wait to get there now and i will keep a look out for whites and to be honest was worrying abit about it but keen to get in the water!! havent speared in a month and just wanna get going now
