Hey Guys I recently bought this small boat to c

Fanie

Sealiner
Hello African,

You should have gone for the marine ply instead, at double the price ! I would still advise you to do that. Marine ply has it's layers glued with a water proof glue, the standar ply's glue dissolves in water ! which means it will disintigrate in no time when it gets wet.

The second thing is polyester resin - which is the most economical to use, does not adhere and seal wood well. You have to use epoxy resin instead - again at more than double the price.

My advice is to do it the right way or you will have to do it again in a short while. That boat has a nice hull, all cathedral hulls are stable though choppy, but do it right and you will have lots of nice times fishing.

Hey Fanie... Thanks for the advice... Unfortunately i already fibre glassed the wood in today.... :(

Will have to look at some other ways of waterfroofing now to do damage control...

The boat is finally complete. Hope the pic uploads.

its just a flat comfy deck for dam fishing. also have removable rod holders at the back for drifting and trolling etc.

All the inspection hatches open to little compartments, for keys, phones, snacks and a beer or two. the front one is the biggest for the anchor and other gear...

i also got the boat shop to fill it with foam for bouyancy...

its 2,6m x 1,2m so dont need skippers or anything. also under 15hp. i'll just put on a strong sneaker motor. also have paddles... might look at a small outboard in the future, max 5hp.

cant wait to test it out.

pics arent uploading again.... but anyway, got the main ones up.

I'd like to know what guys would pay for something like this, as is, without motor. just to get an idea of how much its worth... taking into account that its light enough for two guys to carry and fits into the back of a bakkie. also that it doesnt require and 'papers' etc.

i am looking to get a small trailer for it, as it would make it much easier for me, esp if i want to go alone...
