Hey Guys

I normally use a kayak but took my float tube out on a trip the other day (for the 2nd time) and when I got home I was cleaning it off and wondering what's the easiest and most effective way to to it. I basically inflated it at home, wiped away all visible dirt, grass, muck, ect, and then took it apart and dried the inside and the pontoons and then left the 'outside' bit to dry in the sun for about 30 mins... It looks like new again but the whole process took almost an hour with packing it into a box etc.

1. Does anyone have an easied method?

2. Is this necessary each time after use?(dont want any mould to form on the inside)

3. Does anyone have a box to keep it in? I saw the big jim tool box (the biggest one) at makro and thought of getting it to keep the deflated tube (and foam, pump and fins) in so it doesn't get damaged while travelling etc. Any ideas or suggestions?

4. Is it normal to get wet with an Explorer V-Boat? I'm getting wet by water from the back which is getting absorbed through the material on the back rest. My thighs remain pretty dry but I feel like I'm sitting in a puddle... (No Wader yet)

5. Does anyone use a hand held fish finder from a tube? Do they work? Are they worth getting? If so, Which brand is good?

Any comments or tips will be welcome...

Shot guys, tight lines...

1. No...lol...

2. No...lol... Ill wash mine maybe once a month(Cleaning your float tube every time after use, is a good way to prevent grass and other weeds to get in to other waters...)

3.I have hooks that hang from the roof of my garrage, the float tubes just hangs above my car, so no reason to deflate them then, everytime, making it a lot easier for you, just to load it and go fishing.

4.Yup...im afraid so...Its normal.

5. a lot of our guys in the competitions uses normal fishfinders on there V-Boat, with the transducer fitted in to the foam and the fishfinder mounted on the front with a piece of wood. The last comp, Robdogs son had his Lowrance HDS on his Float tube...so anything is possible.

Hope that helped, if not...please ignore...lol...Tight Lines.

I agree with basslover.

Can't NOT get wet on a float tube unless you get waders.

When I'm finished fishing, I usually stand the tube up against the car with "bottoms up" and by the time I'm finished a drink and packing up, it's pretty dry.

I  don't deflate my tube until my wife gets the "horries", I try keep it inflated and just chuck it in my car when I wanna fish (I have a VW Caddy so that helps!).

I have a finder as well, the handheld ones are apparently quite cr@p. FISHTON has new ones (Eagle Cuda 300 with colour screen) for R1,500 brand new. He is a member here.

Check out the pic of me in my pimped tube at the last KBBC at Homestead, pic courtesy Robdog.

if you don't know who you buying it from, you rather get a new one. my 2c. I just feel that with something that's holding your life you rather be safe. Anything can happen...
