Yip, the 8'6 rod is a stick-baiting/plugging rod. Just wanted some thoughts on that as I mainly fish of boats.

Will just have to get another rod for shore based spinning. I'm sure the missus will be thrilled. :fbash

Btw... 55lb Saltiga boat braid is a bit thinner than 40lb Fireline. Sure the casting will be pretty much in the same vicinity?

Yes for sure if its thinner! But go heavy as you can on the leader ! I often use .8mm to 1.5mm tapered leaders. Gives you a better chance of landing that geet when you have 1.5mm at the business end . What make is your rod if I may ask?

I am looking at the Black Hole 8'6... Was just asking because I was curious about its usefulness from shore. Shore-based spinning is something that I would like to get a more involved in as well.

But, being the tackle sl@t I am, I know that very few rods cover all the bases. Always a tradeoff somewhere.

No idea mate but get hold of Enigma. He imports regularly from Usa. I've used the tuna sniper. Doesn't like high sticking a fish though. But as an all round (popping and stick baiting) they are great. Also look at the Salty Water tackle. Great rods and near indestructible.

yup I may be a bit biased I'm a bif fan of the brand but its not just thay I've had experience with oti rods and for the most part the exsperianxe was rods blowing up!

Id happily recomend Hot's, carpenter, yamaga blanks, ripple fisher ect as well.

True Willem lol. But that said who needs chicks when you have 50+kg GTs , ambers , loads of other kingys, monster shad, permit (pompano) etc swimming around? ? ? Gimme 3 weeks in Hallaniyats or 3 weeks with Megan Fox ? Hallaniyats win hands down! @ Cam awesome stuff! Hope you guys are hammering those big reef-hooligans!

the kingies is there, all you need to do is make time and effort in trying for them.
the ledges at vidal might be a better option on low spring tide. allows you to fish shorter casts just behind the rocks.
st lucia is good, but you gonna walk.
ill try, maphelane bay and all gullies leading up to it for now.
if nothing happens, try north of the swimming beech, but you would need good tackle making longer shots to the deep there, unless you there over the spring low tide.

Really enjoyed that Jimmy Badong vid. Where was that Frank?

I've had some pretty amazing land based GT fishing at the sand spit at Linene. It's hugely exciting catching Geet on popper from the shore.

great footage and awesome fishing, but help me please the drama with the guy hugging the fish and the fish lying on top of him is just a bit over the top
