Yip I know it to well. Theres nothing like running casing for 12 hours, orr in your case, sometimes days. My personal best is stabing 152 joint of 9 / 5'8 by meself, with no relieve. That was in the old days on the Pride South Seas in Mosselbay.  You don't know a Tobie Sanders do you ? He's from the states. If your in contack with Him, please get He's mail adress. He was my fishing buddy on the PSP. The C.Man droped him on a EXXON fishing boat 1 day to catch fish with the base managers.
Guys I have to say this, Oil Rig work is tough !

Names Mark, Live in Fish Hoek. Sorry to hear about your accident, and I hope that you are well compensated for the tradegy. Do you fish competition or just for the pleasure? I started fishing only a year ago and have caught a streepie, lots of galjoen and lost a kob. I have been going through a book called the south african fisherman which is a helpfull guide to fishing and was wandering if you have caught any musselcracker? and what do you  go for at Betties bay? I have often told my buddies that we should try that side of the bay as my buddie is a natal old school fisherman and has not yet caught a fish in Cape waters besides a shy shark at Sunny cove. I have taken him fishing with me to cape point and misty cliffs where I catch plenty galjoen but he is frustrated with loosing line and sinkers in the kelp. I would love it for him to catch a fish so that his spirit could be lifted because he ssometimes doesnt even want to go fishing anymore. What should I do?

About my accident and compensation, NO compensation and still a long fight ahead and lost of headaches, but that's another story I can tell you 1 day when we go fishing. I only fish for plesure, but would like to work my way up the ranks.
My first time I fish a Betties was today 16 th and it was my 1st competition. So I don't know the area @ all, but got a nice Vaalhaai. Here in Hermanus is the same as there, some Gallies and the odd Steenbras. I'm moving to Struisbaai / LaGulas next month, and I can tell you this, there is much more fish on that side.

I told the guys today @ the 2 oceans competition, that I want to organise another fishing competion in Sepember before or after the school holidays, when the bronze whalers starting to come closer. This should be fun. On your last Question. Tell your buddy that you can't catch a fish, if your bait isn't in the water. I'v been fishing for 2o odd years, and can count on my 1 hand the fish I have landed. Once I'm settled in LaGulas, we can organise a fishing trip to me for your buddy. But remember I can't promise any fish.

I hope they k@k and betaal. We would love to meet you and your wife. As the other guy says his best catch was his wife and I feel the same way about mine. Without her I would have been long dead as she keeps a good control over me and I love her. Fishing means a hell of a lot to me, and to her, as she gets free time from me but does all the crappy jobs like cleaning house. I just told her that we should enjoy our kombi and spend weekends going away (fishing and camping of course), but they stole the kombi and two days later got her back. So we will definately come and visit once you have settled but if we come thru we will ask if we can pop in thru our favorite chat site. Must phone my brother but will chat again, lots of bites but not stywe lyne at Misty Cliff today. Caught 2 galjoen at Cape point, last weekend and the week before 1 galjoen. My other mate Kevin caught his first galjoen in the last two years and was extatic and his face was happy for once holding his rod and his fish. Speak later sorry
